Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Top o' the mornin to ye! Today is very much St. Patrick's Day, but it is also Katie Hogan's 21st birthday. Isn't it ironic that one of the most Irish/Catholic families in Kansas had their first-born on St. Patrick's Day? For those of you who don't know much about the Hogan household here's a list of the kids' names:

Kathleen
Patrick
Bridget
James
Maureen
Brenna
Michael

Sound Irish to you?

So, today we are celebrating TWO holidays at Mike's Irish Pub, which happens to be the only known Irish establishment in this city of 6 million. We've made reservations...sort of. Christina called and the owner said he'd kick somebody out of a table when we arrived.

Katie's bedecked in green today. She's even got the shamrock temporary tattoo on her face. Perhaps I'll follow suit.

I hope everyone's leprechaun traps were finished in time, but sincerely doubt that those clever little creatures have fallen for our silly little plots against them.

Eat some soda bread and raise a Guiness!

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm on your face,
The rain fall softly on your fields;
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I'm a fan of the old-school version of the Irish blessing, where the last two lines are replaced with "and may you be in Heaven an hour before the Devil knows you're dead."

And the rest of the day to yourself!
